Help! How does it work?
If you’re struggling to find staff or just need an extra pair of hands for a few days, give us a call to discuss what you need or leave some details and we’ll get back to you. We will then look through the candidates we have available and advise you if we have anyone who fits the bill. We can send anyone suitable to start work for you as soon as required or if you prefer to maybe hold a couple of interviews and decide from there, it’s not a problem. When you’re happy, we’ll organise for the candidate to start work with you.
If we have no suitable candidates, we will advise you and give you the option to give us some time to find someone.
How much does it cost?
The total cost per hour will depend on what the hourly pay rate is going to be. Where possible we like to pay the same to our candidates as you pay your own staff unless of course, they are working in a lesser skilled role. When we have established the pay rate we will give you a rate which includes all statutory payments, including pension contributions (after a 12 week qualifying period) but excludes VAT.
How flexible can a temporary member of staff be?
We have lots of people wanting various hours of work. If you have a requirement, we’ll do our utmost to find you someone who can fit in. If your member of staff returns to work sooner than expected, it’s not a problem, our temporary workers know that the duration of the work is not guaranteed.
How long do I have to keep the temporary worker for?
To make it worth their while, our minimum booking is for 4 hours.
I don’t feel the temporary worker you have sent is right for my business, what should I do?
Not a problem, give us a call and we’ll find you a replacement as soon as possible. You don’t have to worry about breaking the news to our temporary worker either, we will deal with that.
What about the Agency Workers Regulations?
Once a temporary worker completes a 12-week qualifying period with the same client, in the same role, they will be entitled to have the same basic terms and conditions of employment as if they had been employed directly. It’s usually a straightforward process. There may be a slight adjustment in the pay and charge rate at the 12-week point, but you get to keep a happy and productive member of your team.
How does it work if a temporary worker wants to take some holidays?
We tell them to get it authorised by you, then tell us the date, they take their holiday and we pay them for it. There is no extra cost to you. If required, we will find a replacement to give you cover.
If we like the temporary worker, can we take them on permanently?
Yes, just let us know and we can work out the most cost effective way for you to do so.
Do you charge VAT?
Yes, all invoices have VAT added on.
How do I know I’m working with a reputable recruitment consultancy?
Choose one that is a member of the REC (The Recruitment and Employment Confederation). The REC is a professional body which supports and represents the recruitment industry. Have a look on their website for more useful information. http://www.rec.uk.com/home
We are full members of the REC, the GLA (Gangmasters Licensing Authority), Cumbria Chamber of Commerce and Dumfries and Galloway Chamber of Commerce.
How does the process work when you recruit permanent staff on our behalf?
We require a full job description and as much information as is available about the post you want us to fill, a site visit and meeting with the person who the recruit is going to be interviewed by or work with, will help us to gain an understanding of the business personalities and the role. We aim to understand the role in as much detail as you!
We will source the candidates for your vacancy from our database of existing candidates, advertising on our own website and posting on external job boards, ensuring we reach the widest possible audience.
We would then put together a shortlist of suitable candidates whom we have interviewed, for you to interview. We would make interview arrangements for you, deal with all interview feedback, reference checking if required, job offer management and all start day information. We like to ensure that there is open communication from both sides during the whole process.
There is no placement fee payable unless you appoint one of the candidates we put forward.
Who will I be dealing with?
There are only the three of us who run and work at Link Recruitment which is why you will always receive a personal service from someone who knows about your business and what you are looking for. Where possible, whichever one of us has carried out the site visit will deal with the vacancy. In the event of that person being on holiday at any point during the recruitment process, the other two partners will be fully briefed and be able to give you the same level of service.
How do I know you will find the right person for me and won’t overlook any candidates?
That’s a good question, but how do you know that you wouldn’t do the same?
It is in our best interest to find you the perfect candidate. This is the reason we stress that a site visit and a face to face meeting is more than helpful in enabling us to understand what you are looking for. In some instances, we may find a candidate that you may have discarded based on the quality of their CV alone but that we can see potential in. We spend all our time recruiting, something that you can’t do when you have a business or your own department to run. Do you reference check your candidates?
Only if requested or we feel that there is a need to.
